Researchers have found that as long as there is a certain amount of Si, the elongation and formability of the alloy can be improved, but not too much, otherwise the bending performance will be reduced and the formability will be unfavorable.
The body sheet metal parts are all punched, and the material is required to have good punching performance. The performance of the material can be evaluated by n value, r value, cupping value, yield ratio, forming limit, and section necking rate.
When evaluating the formability of automotive aluminum alloy sheets, the X6 value is the most accurate evaluation index; in the simple uniaxial tensile performance parameters, the Z value or n value can be used for evaluation, and the r value is not suitable. X6 is the ratio of plane strain tensile strength Rb-p to uniaxial tensile test tensile strength Rb-u, that is, X6=Rb-p/Rb-u.
The aluminum alloy inner panels for automobiles are mainly 5xxx aluminum alloys, such as 5052 and 5182 aluminum sheet. In terms of deep drawing performance and tensile strength, 5052 aluminum alloy is far inferior to 5182 alloy. Therefore, the preferred aluminum alloy material for complex deep-drawing inner panels of automobiles is 5182-O aluminum sheet. EN AW 5182 h111 is also often used.
