The reason why 5754 aluminum can be widely used in many fields is closely related to its own chemical composition and tempers. Different tempers will give 5754 aluminum alloy different performance characteristics to meet various complex and diverse industrial needs. Next, let us explore the different tempers of 5754 aluminum alloy and the mystery behind it.
O temper
5754 aluminum alloy in O state is also called annealed state. In this state, the alloy has been completely annealed, its internal crystal structure has been fully adjusted, dislocation density has been reduced, and lattice distortion has been reduced, thus possessing a series of unique performance characteristics.
In terms of strength and plasticity, the strength of 5754-O aluminum is relatively low, and the tensile strength is generally around 165-220MPa. But at the same time, its plasticity is very high, and the elongation can reach 20%-28%.
This high plasticity allows the 5754-O aluminum to be easily stretched, bent, stamped, etc. during processing, making it very suitable for deep processing and forming. For example, when manufacturing some complex-shaped automotive interior parts, the 5754-O aluminum alloy can be accurately processed into various shapes that meet the design requirements through the stamping process, and the surface quality can also be well guaranteed.
H temper
The H state is further divided into several different states, the most common ones are H12, H22, H32, etc., which have certain differences in strength, hardness, corrosion resistance, etc.
5754-H12 is obtained by incomplete work hardening, and its tensile strength is generally around 200-240MPa. The strength of aluminum alloy in this state has been significantly improved compared to the O state, but the plasticity has decreased, and the elongation is about 12%-16%.
EN AW 5754 h22 aluminum’s tensile strength is similar to that of the H12 state, about 200-240MPa, but it performs slightly differently in terms of hardness and plasticity. The aluminum alloy in the H22 state has better plasticity while maintaining a certain strength, and the elongation can reach 14%-18%. This makes it used in some fields that require both a certain strength and high requirements for the formability of the material, such as some pipe parts that need to be bent.
5754 h32’s tensile strength is generally around 220-260MPa. It has high strength and hardness, and also has good corrosion resistance. Its elongation is between 10%-14%. Due to its excellent comprehensive performance, it is widely used in the manufacture of products with high requirements for strength, hardness and corrosion resistance.
