What Is The Automobile Aluminium Alloy Plate Market

The automotive aluminum alloy plate market is expanding rapidly, mainly due to the automotive industry's urgent shift towards efficiency and sustainability. As automakers around the world compete to reduce vehicle weight and improve fuel efficiency, aluminum alloy stands out as a preferred material because it provides an ideal balance of strength, lightness and recyclability. This growth in demand is directly related to the popularity of electric vehicles (EVs), which have longer battery life and greater driving range due to reduced weight.

The development of automotive grade sheet metal manufacturing technology has also expanded its application range and increased its appeal for use in automobiles. This demand has been further accelerated by the growing consumer demand for electric and hybrid vehicles, which greatly benefit from the lightweight qualities of aluminum. In addition, the recycling quality of aluminum supports international environmental goals, increases the appeal of aluminum, and ensures that aluminum alloys remain a key component of innovative automotive design.

ABS aluminum alloy sheet is widely used in body panels, including four doors and two covers (front and rear doors, engine cover, trunk cover), roof, fender, etc. As a means of energy conservation and emission reduction, lightweight body has gradually become an important development direction of new energy vehicles.

At present, the aluminum alloy sheets used for automobile bodies mainly include 5000 series and 6000 series, and common aluminum alloy grades are 5052, 5754, 5182, 6016, 6014, and 6181. In addition, a small amount of 2000 series sheets are also used in automobiles.

5754 aluminum sheet is used by automobile manufacturers, such as door panels, engine covers, or trunk covers. Usually 5754 aluminum sheet is processed into H111 state or H0 state through annealing, because only in this state can it be bent.

In order to reduce production costs and improve efficiency, the aluminum processing industry is also exploring the feasibility of producing automotive aluminum sheet by continuous casting and rolling (CC). The 5754 alloy produced by CC method can meet the requirements of automobile companies in terms of mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, welding performance, and forming performance.
